Simple Valentine’s Treat Bags

v day treat bags

Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to give little gifts, and it is always more fun to give gifts in a fun little treat bag, like these Simple Valentine’s Treat Bags that I whipped up out of felt.  They are simple and easy to create in about 10 minutes.  I added a little heart-shaped window to the front of my bags, and this adds a little bit time and work to each bag, but this is optional.  This basic pattern can be used for any rectangle-shaped bag.  It is, however, important to use felt so that there aren’t any edges that need to be finished.

The image below is a rough animation of the pieces you’ll need.  I didn’t use any specific measurements. , just make sure the strip is plenty long.

Once the pieces are cut, head to your sewing machine and sew the strip to one of the rectangles, right sides in.  Start at the top of one side of the rectangle, drop the needle at the bottom, turn the felt so that you are sewing the strip along the bottom, and then again on the other side.  Repeat on the other side.  Trim the edges.

I think it’s nice to have a little window into the treats.  The window is easy to add.  Just cut a heart shape, place sheer fabric behind it and sew in place with a running stitch.

I hope you have lots of darlings and sweethearts to spoil this Valentine’s Day, and that this little project has inspired you to do something a little special for them.
