Felt Bat Halloween Brooch {with free template}

felt bat brooch

Hello! I am excited to share this Felt Bat Halloween Brooch with you today.   Its is a simple, quick craft for those of us that, well, like Halloween, but would prefer to wear a broach, as opposed to a costume!  If this sounds like you, then spent your time creating cute costumes for the kids, and stitch up for yourself a simple felt broach this Halloween.  It’s cute, fun, and with the free template, quite easy to make!

How to make a Felt Bat Halloween Brooch

Here are the supplies you’ll need:

Black felt, White Felt Scraps, Buttons, Embroidery Thread, Bar Pin and this TEMPLATE

felt bat brooch tutorial

1. Use the TEMPLATE and cut out two bat shapes.  Also, pick out buttons for the eyes.

2. Sew down the buttons and cut out white triangles for the teeth.

3. Use back stitch to stitch on the mouth, attaching the teeth as you go.

4. Place the two bat shapes together and whip stitch around the outside. When you are done, attach a bar pin to the back, either stitching it our with hot glue.

And, there you have it!  You are ready to celebrate Halloween without much hassle!  I really admire moms that not only have their kids dressed up in handmade, themed costumes (like my sister), but with two little kids and other coming soon, I just don’t have the time or energy.  I really wish I did.  I really wish I had the drive, like my mother did to get all of us girls and herself in full costumes.  I wish.  Frankly, it is going to be an accomplishment if I get the kid’s costumes done–and an even greater miracle if I’m able to blog about the costumes I made before Halloween.
