I like things that are old. This is why I actually prefer to shop second hand. Not only are things cheaper, they are usually so much more unique. Whenever I find something really cool at a Thrift Store I always wonder what stories this thing could tell.
Shopping second hand has led to me having very unique home decor. One of my favorite "unique" objects in my house is a lamp I made from an old bottle I bought second hand. This is an incredibly easy project. If you have a few simple supplies, you too can have a one-of-a-kind lamp.
Here's what you need:
Cool bottle
Lamp kit (find these at Walmart, or any mart)
Drill
Lamp Shade
Simply drill a hole in the back, bottom of the bottle, so a cord can pass through. Then assemble your lamp according to the directions on the lamp kid. Add a shade, plug in and enjoy!
Sidenote: if anyone has figured out how to keep curious little boys from pulling things off shelves, let me know!
Thanks as always for being here!

Wow! How is so much creativity in one person? Seriously, this is so fun, that I hope to give it a shot. And in answer to your question; you don't. LOL. I have moved dozen of items to the basement along with furniture due to my boys not leaving items alone. If you find out how let me know.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! Found you through the blog hop and glad I did! You can find me at www.24to30.com.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!
ReplyDeleteWas it hard to drill a hole in the vase?

The bottle wasn't glass--it was a ceramic...I think. So it was easy to drill through. A glass bottle would have been a different story.
DeleteLove it! We found you via Two Succulent Sisters - What to Do Weekends
ReplyDeleteI love that lamp! What a fun idea... makes me want to go to the thrift store right now!
ReplyDeleteAnd no, I have no idea how to keep little boys from pulling everything off the shelves. It's hopeless around here. :)
I love lamp too! So excited to launch our series on Saturday!
DeleteHa ha ha.... well, I have a grandson who is a special needs baby and I'd love to have him pull something off a table so it's a matter of perspective, I guess. Best wishes and I love the bottle lamp, too. Linda
ReplyDeleteSo true! Thanks for sharing this about your grandson. It's funny the things we should be thankful for!
DeleteThat turned out awesome! Thanks for sharing! I'm going to be on the look-out for a cool bottle!
